MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB

As a Group Leader, you will be a pivotal member of the Exosome Engineering team at Evox. You will play a key role in supporting the development and delivery of the Exosome engineering strategy, leading a significant part of the Exosome Engineering team and playing an important direct role in advancing the development of Evox’s platform for loading a variety of drugs into exosomes. You will be responsible for leading all operational aspects of an Exosome Engineering group involved in developing platforms for loading of various proteins into exosomes as well as potentially other endogenously-loaded drug cargos, whilst driving the engagement and development of your group members. The Exosome Engineering group is at the heart of how we manipulate cells to produce exosomes that are naturally loaded with our desired drug cargo (endogenous drug loading). This group leader will be responsible for devising ways to effectively load and deliver a variety of different protein payloads as well as potentially other drug modalities. Another group within the Exosome Engineering Group is focused on endogenous loading of mRNA cargos.

We are looking for an individual who will thrive in a highly agile and start-up environment, who is able to lead, motivate, innovate and will relish the sense of accomplishment each day brings in our exciting company.

This position is based at Evox Therapeutics facility at the Oxford Science Park, Oxford, UK and will report to the Director of Exosome Engineering.

   KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Lead and establish a team of Exosome Engineering scientists as well as taking on a ‘hands-on’ approach to deliver project material requirements.
  • Work with members of your group to set and regularly review objectives aligned to the corporate goals.
  • Provide operational leadership within Exosome Engineering group in developing/optimising endogenous-based exosome loading methods and ascertaining the effectiveness of cell delivery for a variety of drugs, especially protein-based cargos.
  • Work in a multi-disciplinary team to identify new endogenous drug loading and delivery approaches that could be applied to exosomes as well as investigate loading of new types of drug cargoes.
  • Work collaboratively with other R&D groups to produce, characterise and test endogenously drug-loaded exosomes.
  • Ensure the Exosome Engineering scientists are appropriately trained, coached and mentored and maintain high quality record keeping and documentation of experiments aligned with Evox data integrity policies.
  • Provide scientific and technical leadership in the Exosome Engineering area, role modelling best practice approaches and techniques.
  • Responsible for the resolution of all technical and scientific issues that affect, or have the potential to affect, the delivery of objectives and milestones, ensuring early visibility and awareness into implementation risks, identifying preventative measures, investigating, and troubleshooting equipment.
  • Deliver Research reports ensuring timely completion and high-quality documentation.
  • Work collaboratively with the technical and operational stakeholders, e.g. mRNA exosome group within the Exosome Engineering team, other colleagues within Research and also those across the R&D organisation.
  • Ensure a healthy and safe working environment.
