MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB           

This role oversees Evox’s Legal function and supports business-wide legal needs by working in close cooperation with key internal and external stakeholders, providing actionable advice and input around legal risk mitigation, threats and opportunities.

This could be the perfect opportunity for someone from a private practice background who is looking to a move to an in-house role.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Working closely with the Chief Business Officer, the role provides hands-on, day-to-day transactional support and legal advice on a wide range of matters relating to Company strategy and operations
  • Interfaces effectively and proactively with internal departments (primarily R&D, HR and Finance) to support on a variety of legal matters
  • Coordinates and leverages external resources in the form of various outside counsels (UK, US, EU)
  • Drafts, reviews and supports in negotiating agreements relating to a wide variety of 3rd party relationships, including CDAs, MSAs, MTAs, consulting agreements, service agreements, agreements related to manufacturing, supply chain and logistics, and employment contracts as needed
  • Provides oversight for compliance programs including outlining company positions, program implementation and training (in particular around anti-corruption and bribery, data protection, data privacy, etc.)
  • Supports and executes corporate secretarial matters, including board resolutions and other forms of governance approvals
  • Participates in special projects at the corporate level and contributes to these projects by providing hands-on and fast-paced advice on legal, compliance, transactional, commercial or drug development issues
  • Engages in a range of corporate support activities, including, but not limited to, assisting with managing and enhancing corporate and legal infrastructure (templates, electronic signature workflows, contract management software, etc.) for a rapidly growing and evolving business

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Law degree (or equivalent) and a minimum of five (Legal Counsel) or eight (Senior Legal Counsel) years progressive experience, preferably in an in-house role within a pharmaceutical, biotechnology or life science company
  • Extensive experience of general commercial contracts and legal matters across preclinical and clinical drug development, data protection and privacy, property, corporate governance, health and safety, as well as general and industry-specific compliance matters
  • Strong negotiation skills with high level of attention to detail
  • High degree of integrity and ability to handle confidential information with discretion
  • Reliable self-starter with ability to influence without direct authority
  • Ability to work highly autonomously, independently and collaboratively, as required, in a fast-paced, matrixed, team environment consisting of internal and external team members
  • Analytical and strategic thinker with excellent problem solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines
  • Excellent planning, organisational and time management skills including the ability to support and prioritise multiple projects
